What we are — and what we're not
Let's be direct about this, because it matters more than any marketing line we could write.
Van Nuys General Contractor ADU & Remodeling LLC is a marketing and referral service. We are not a licensed contractor. We do not build, install, remodel, pull permits, or perform any construction work. We never will. Every project is carried out by an independent contractor licensed by the California State License Board — not by us.
What we do is narrower and, we think, useful: we help you find the right licensed pro for the job you have in mind, so you're not cold-calling strangers and hoping for the best.
Why this exists
Hiring a contractor in the Valley is genuinely hard. The good ones are booked and don't advertise much. The ones who chase you hardest are often the ones you should avoid. And unless you do this for a living, it's difficult to tell the difference from a website and a phone call.
Most homeowners we hear from have the same three questions: is my project even possible on my lot, what should it realistically cost, and who can I trust to do it? We can help with the first two through our free guides, and with the third by pointing you at licensed contractors who actually work in your area and take on your kind of project.
How it works
You tell us about your project — the type of work, your city, and roughly when you'd like to start. We identify independent, licensed contractors who match that. You talk to them directly, compare what they say, and hire whoever you want.
You're not obligated to hire anyone, including anyone we suggest. There's no cost to you for being matched. And we'd rather tell you your project isn't feasible than route you to someone who'll take your deposit and figure it out later.
Before you hire anyone — us-referred or not — verify their license yourself at the California Contractors State License Board. It takes two minutes and it's the single best thing you can do to protect yourself.
Where we work
We're based in Van Nuys and focus on the San Fernando Valley — Van Nuys, Sherman Oaks, Encino, Studio City, North Hollywood, Valley Village, Tarzana, Woodland Hills, Reseda, Northridge, Burbank and Toluca Lake. You can see the full list of areas we cover.
Staying local is deliberate. Valley housing stock has its own quirks — mid-century construction, LADBS permitting, lots that don't always match the plans — and contractors who work here every week know that. Contractors who don't, don't.
Despite our name, Van Nuys General Contractor ADU & Remodeling LLC is a marketing and referral service — not a licensed contractor. We do not perform construction work, we do not bid on it, and we do not hold a CSLB licence. All construction is performed by independent, licensed California contractors, and you contract with them directly.
